Electric Pickups

What are the best electric trucks in the world? Consumers are shifting towards more sustainable transportation for a cleaner and greener future as the advantages of owning an EV become more apparent.

Best Electric Trucks

The electric truck revolution is in full swing and continues to evolve. We take a look at the 10 best electric trucks as technology continues to propel logistics into the future.

10. Lordstown Endurance

The Lordstown Endurance has some appeal as a fleet vehicle. It has a claimed range of about 250 miles and drawing 440 horsepower from four electric motors, but there are issues with real world range and efficiency with the Endurance.

With a 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds it’s not the fastest electric pickup truck but it’s a workhorse with practicality that could be useful commercially. Lordstown is at risk however of going bankrupt and they’ll be hoping to ride out the wave.

9. Alpha Wolf

Alpha Motor Corporation was founded in 2020 and the Alpha Wolf is the company’s first foray into a production electric truck. The retro-styled truck has a planned range of up to 275 miles, a max output of 402 horsepower and a respectable 0-60 mph time of 6.2 seconds on the top-spec model.

The throwback cues of the Alpha Wolf are cool with features like quad formation off-road lights, chunky off-road wheels, a traditional roll bar and a simple tailgate. A simple interior with bucket seats and quilted fabric adds to the elegance of the truck. The Alpha Wolf is sure to be one of the best electric trucks once it hits the road with the nostalgic joys it will bring.

8. Canoo Pickup

American EV startup Canoo is supplying Walmart with 4,500 commercial vehicles and is also supplying the United States Army with a vehicle for testing. Using the same platform, the Canoo Pickup Truck will command attention thanks to its modern aerodynamic look, and its reminiscence to the Jeep Forward Control of the 1950s.

The Pickup offers over 200 miles of range and is available in either single or dual motor. It peaks at 600 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque, and is very functional with a multi-accessory power plant for charging, plus a modular flat bed to suit a range of different situations.

7. GMC Hummer EV

The over-the-top GMC Hummer EV is a supertruck of sorts and its behemoth specs are exactly what you’d expect from a Hummer. The top spec is one of the best electric pickups – the Edition 1 trim which peaks at 1,000 horsepower driven by three electric motors and gives just under 330 miles of range.

GMC’s Crab Walk feature allows the Hummer to travel diagonally which helps manoeuvrability with tight turning circles. The Hummer’s weight of 9,440 lb has raised concerns especially as it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds. Just like it’s ICE equivalent, the Hummer EV is inefficient and guzzles electricity.

6. Chevrolet Silverado EV

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is built on one of the best electric pickup platforms – the GM Ultium – which is what the GMC Hummer EV is also built on. The WT model will push out 510 horsepower at 615 ft-lb and its no-nonsense approach is perfect for tradesmen with interior details focused on easy maintenance and not so much on aesthetics.

The RST trim follows a different path and will be capable of reaching 664 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque when set to Chevy’s Wide-Open Watts (WOW) mode. The smooth design is also claimed to give the Silverado EV one of the lowest drag coefficient of any full-size pickup making it one of the best electric trucks on the market.

5. Tesla Cybertruck

Despite the Tesla Cybertruck concept “Armor Glass” failing at it’s unveiling in 2019, the Cybertruck is one of the most hotly anticipated electric trucks ever. You either love or hate the blocky, futuristic space-age design, but the Cybertruck is made to be durable, practical and super quick.

A minimalist interior is highlighted by a single 17-inch touchscreen, horizontally mounted in the middle of the dashboard. The top of the range model is also expected to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds with a range of up to 500 miles. The Cybertruck could be the Model 3 or Model Y equivalent of electric trucks and become a bestseller in years to come.

4. Dodge Ram Revolution EV

The first batch of Dodge RAM Revolution EVs are expected to reach owners by late 2024. Those looking at it from the front will be met with an aggressive RAM “tuning-fork” LED light setup.

Those lucky enough to be sitting behind the wheel will have 654 horsepower available and will be able to achieve 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds. The Ram Revolution EV is also practical with RamBox storage spaces, a powered frunk and powered side steps.

EV gimmicks don’t elude the Dodge Ram Revolution EV with an exterior projector that plays movies outside the truck, and a “Shadow Mode” which allows the truck to follow a driver walking ahead of it, more reason its one of the best electric trucks that money can buy.

3. GMC Sierra EV

The GMC Sierra EV starts US deliveries in early 2024 and begins with the launch of its flagship model the Denali Edition 1. It will be built on GM’s famed Ultium platform with 754hp, 785 pound-feet of torque and a 0-60mph time of around 4.5 seconds. The GMC Sierra EV will have a claimed range of around 400 miles and has the ability to fast-charge 100 miles of range in about 10 minutes.

GMC’s Denali nameplate is set to meet expectations with the Sierra EV, exactly what you’d expect at this trim level and meeting the brands highest standards. Interior finishes include engineered bass wood, Galvano chrome finishes and quilted high-performance materials for the seat. Add adaptive suspension and a “CrabWalk” function matching the Hummer EV and you have one of the best electric trucks available on the market.

2. Rivian R1T

Rivian has a similar strategy to Tesla by packing innovative features into their electric trucks. The Rivian R1T is no different offering air suspension, electro-hydraulic roll control, a flashlight in the door and even a removable bluetooth speaker.

The Rivian R1T is one of the best electric pickups and is a beast off-road. Above the 600 horsepower dual-motor model is an 835 horsepower quad-motor which accelerates from 0-60 mph in a time of 3.3 seconds.

As the R1T has the ability to send the optimal amount of torque to each wheel, giving the truck just the right amount of grip and traction in any situation.

1. Ford F-150 Lightning

One of the most popular vehicles in America and the best selling truck for almost 50 years, the F-150 has evolved into the electric era. The F-150 Lightning is our pick for best electric truck with Ford finding the perfect balance of electrifying an American icon while maintaining its character.

An absolute beast, the F-150 Lightning range begins at Pro trim and up to the Platinum Extended Range which peaks at 580 horsepower, 775 pound-feet of torque, around 300 miles of range and a 0-60 mph time of four seconds flat.

The F-150 Lightning retains the workhorse practicality of the F-Series albeit with a futuristic twist. Onboard power turns the truck into a mobile generator perfect for job sites, campsites and tailgates. It can even power a home in an emergency.
